Hallway of Time was inspired by a friend's pencil sketch. The Ankh is the Egyptian symbol of everlasting life. The Yin/Yang is the Taoist symbol for balance. Putting the two together suggests balance throughout life.
The hallway is based on an English metaphor from the Middle Ages. A bird flies out of the darkness into the window of a tavern where there is light, warmth and food. The time in the tavern is life. And then he flies out another window into the darkness, the unknown, death.
The self-repeating fractal patterns on the wall suggest eternity.
Poet, artist, and animator, Dave Turner has always marched to the beat of his own drum. Challenged by the illusion of separation and inspired by a sense of wonder, Dave creates works that are intended to promote wellness and introspection. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, he is a lifelong resident of Tennessee. Dave loves animals and is an avid Masters swimmer. He believes a joyous heart and laughter are the best medicines, and that sleep is the best meditation.
